Senior Support Worker (Community Based) | Bognor Regis | Full Time | £28,000 - £31,000 per annum
Our client provides homecare services to customers in the local community. The Senior Support Worker will support the Care Manager and Care Coordinator with the effective and efficient running of the service.
The Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support the Care Manager and Care Coordinator at a senior level while continuing to carry out the responsibilities of a Support Worker. The role involves supporting customer care, maintaining care records, carrying out checks and assessments, and providing guidance to other support workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out basic initial assessments of new customers and customer reviews as directed
- Complete and review care plans and risk assessments as directed
- Ensure the Carelinelive system is set up for customers and care plan notes are kept up to date
- Carry out spot inspections and medication checks as required
- Participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota
- Mentor new Support Workers, providing support, advice and encouragement
- Maintain confidentiality and report any concerns to the Care Manager and Care Coordinator
- Communicate, report and liaise with the Care Manager, Care Coordinator and office staff as required
- Understand the role of the Care Coordinator and the Carelinelive system to provide cover in the office when required
- Support the Care Manager and Care Coordinator and respond positively to reasonable requests, including those requiring a short-notice response or unsocial hours
- Uphold and promote the company by acting in a responsible and professional manner
- Wear the company uniform where appropriate and maintain a smart, clean appearance
- Follow company policies and procedures and report any concerns to the Care Manager and Care Coordinator
- Attend training courses as required
- Comply with company health and safety policies and relevant legislation
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions
- Co-operate with the company to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
- Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety or welfare
Requirements
Essential
- Experience as a Support Worker
- Ability to work flexibly and positively to support the Care Manager and Care Coordinator
- Professional and responsible approach to work
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota
- Willingness to attend training as required
- Ability to respond to reasonable requests, including at short notice and during unsocial hours
Desirable
- Experience mentoring or supporting new Support Workers
- Experience carrying out care assessments, care plan reviews, risk assessments, spot inspections or medication checks
- Understanding of the Care Coordinator role
