Estimator – Building Services / M&E / BMS | Leeds Office | Full Time | £50,000–£60,000 per annum

Our client is a Leeds-based specialist in control panel design, manufacturing, and building management systems, with over 25 years of industry experience. They provide a complete end-to-end service, including system design, in-house panel manufacturing, engineering, installation, and ongoing maintenance across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and public sector projects.

With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality bespoke control solutions, they work with a wide range of clients on technically interesting projects, from new-build developments through to complex refurbishment and upgrade works.

Their projects typically include a 75/25 split of new works to rework, covering sectors such as schools, student accommodation, office developments, manufacturing facilities, and commercial buildings, with project values ranging from £10k to £500k.

The Role

Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a technically capable Estimator with experience within M&E, MEP, building services, controls, or a related engineering environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands technical systems, enjoys analysing drawings and specifications, and has the ability to produce accurate quotations and tender submissions. The successful candidate will play an important role within the estimating function, working closely with the Business Development Director and engineering teams to support project delivery and business growth.

The business is open to candidates from a range of technical backgrounds. While BMS experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. The key requirement is strong engineering knowledge, an understanding of technical drawings, and the ability to recognise and assess components, equipment, and systems within a building services environment.

This could suit an experienced Estimator looking to develop further within a specialist engineering business, or a technically strong engineer with some commercial exposure who is ready to move into estimating.

Over time, there is the opportunity for the successful candidate to take on increased responsibility and develop into a more senior estimating or management position as the function continues to grow.

The business primarily works with Trend and Tridium BMS platforms, so experience with BMS controls, HVAC systems, building services, electrical controls, or automation would be highly advantageous. However, a strong technical understanding and willingness to learn are equally important.

This role will predominantly be office-based at LS12, with some flexibility for occasional home working.

Key Responsibilities

• Review customer enquiries, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to understand project requirements
• Prepare accurate quotations and tender submissions based on technical information and project requirements
• Interpret M&E, mechanical, electrical, controls, and building services drawings
• Assess equipment, materials, labour requirements, and subcontractor costs to support accurate pricing
• Liaise with suppliers and internal engineering teams to gather technical and commercial information
• Support technical discussions with customers and stakeholders throughout the tender process
• Work closely with the Business Development Director and engineering teams to ensure commercially and technically suitable solutions are provided
• Assist with sales handovers to the delivery team following successful project awards
• Maintain accurate records of quotations, costs, and tender information
• Support continuous improve
