Vehicle Technician | Lakeside, Essex | Full Time | £32,000–£35,000 Basic Salary + Bonus
Our client operates a main dealer workshop specialising in Jeep and Vauxhall vehicles, with access to the latest manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment and ongoing technical training.
The Role
They are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their established workshop team in Lakeside, Essex. This opportunity is open to technicians from both main dealerships and independent garages, with flexibility around qualifications and years of experience for the right candidate.
The role involves vehicle servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics, with opportunities to undertake more advanced work as familiarity with the vehicles and manufacturer systems develops.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs across Jeep and Vauxhall vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults confidently using manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment
- Complete vehicle inspections and identify any additional work required
- Undertake more advanced repairs as experience and familiarity with the vehicles develop
- Maintain accurate job documentation and take responsibility for the quality of workmanship
- Work alongside the Workshop Controller to support the efficient running of the workshop
- Follow manufacturer procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship
- Complete mandatory manufacturer training and develop technical knowledge and skills
- Follow workshop health and safety procedures
Requirements
Essential
- Relevant Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair, or an equivalent qualification supported by suitable practical experience
- Experience in vehicle servicing, maintenance, repairs and diagnostics
- Confidence in diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Full UK driving licence
- A methodical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience working with Vauxhall or Jeep vehicles
- Main dealership or reputable independent garage experience
- MOT testing licence
- Manufacturer accreditations
- Electric and hybrid vehicle training or qualifications
Candidates with fewer than four to five years' experience may still be considered, depending on their skills and capabilities.
What’s On Offer
- Basic salary of £32,000–£35,000, depending on experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
- On-target earnings of approximately £42,000–£45,000, including bonus
- Bonus targets based on skill set and pay banding
- Additional overtime opportunities, paid separately
- Overtime rates of 1.5 times the normal rate for additional Saturday work after 12.30 pm or on non-rostered Saturdays, and double time on Sundays
- Monday–Friday working hours, 8 am–5.30 pm
- One in three Saturdays, 8 am–12.30 pm, on a rota
