Church - Temple of Fun is an independent venue looking for an entrepreneurial leader to take responsibility for the whole business, bringing energy, ideas and strong leadership while working with the owner to take Church into its next stage of growth.
Church sits within Osborn Works, a creative environment bringing together fashion, design, printing, events, hospitality and music.
The Role
You'll work closely with the owner to understand his vision and ideas for Church, then take ownership of turning them into reality. You'll develop ideas, make decisions and drive them forward, while also bringing ideas of your own.
We're looking for someone who naturally sees opportunities, thinks creatively about growth and can turn good ideas into practical plans.
You'll have overall responsibility for the whole Church operation, including front of house, bar, kitchen, marketing and events. You'll lead the people responsible for each area and make sure everyone is working towards the same goals.
You'll have the freedom to make day-to-day decisions, develop ideas and try new things within agreed budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- The overall day-to-day running of Church
- Building, leading and motivating a strong team
- Developing the food and drink offer alongside the relevant team
- Driving revenue and increasing footfall
- Overseeing marketing and growing Church's audience
- Developing and delivering events
- Growing weddings and private hire
- Developing the potential of the Catacombs and other spaces
- Understanding the numbers and making commercially sound decisions
- Identifying new opportunities for growth
- Developing ideas and putting together the case for investment where needed
- Continually looking for ways to take Church to the next level
- Building relationships with the other businesses and teams within Osborn Works
- Sharing ideas and looking for opportunities to work together, whether that's events, launches, collaborations, private hire or something none of us has thought of yet
Requirements
Essential
- Takes ownership and is comfortable making decisions
- Is entrepreneurial and naturally looks for opportunities
- Is commercially minded and understands the importance of both growing revenue and managing costs
- Can turn ideas into practical plans
- Knows how to lead and motivate people
- Understands the importance of a great customer experience
- Can understand someone else's vision and help turn it into reality
- Brings ideas and opportunities of their own
- Works well with creative and entrepreneurial people
- Isn't afraid to try something new
- Is willing to learn what they don't already know
- Is excited by the opportunity to build on what Church has already achieved and take it further
Desirable
- Experience in hospitality, events, venues, entertainment, retail or a creative business
