Finance & Business Administrator (Part-Time)
Location: Chester (office-based)
Working Hours: 20–25 hours per week (flexible start times). Required working days: Monday, Thursday, Friday
Salary: Pro rata £13,760 – £22,667
About the Role
We are supporting a well-established technical services company working in the global energy sector. They are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented and highly organised Finance & Business Administrator to join their Finance and Business Administration Team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, routine finance work, is highly organised, and confident working with numbers and systems in a structured environment.
You will work closely with the Finance Manager and Business Systems Administrator to maintain accurate financial records, support core business operations, and contribute to continuous process improvements across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
This is a transactional, hands-on finance role, focused on:
- Processing supplier invoices and matching against purchase orders and timesheets
- Processing subcontractor invoice and timesheet reconciliation
- Raising and preparing customer invoices
- CTR Preparation
- Daily cash flow and updates; Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end (e.g. balance sheet reconciliations and basic reporting support)
- Quarterly review of VAT returns to ensure correct VAT treatment
- General office administration, including filing and organising documents
- Liaising with external providers (e.g. HR), clients and remote Codex staff
- Supporting electronic filing and document control (e.g. SharePoint and Adobe Sign)
About You
We are looking for someone practical, reliable, and comfortable with routine finance tasks.
Essential
- Experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping support role
- Confident handling invoices, bank reconciliations, and timesheets
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Either AAT qualified, studying, or willing to work towards it
Desirable
- Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
- Previous exposure to transactional finance in a small or medium-sized business
