The Role
Based in Runcorn and reporting to the Head of Operations, you will lead sales and business development across our trading and CDMO activities.
This is a predominantly office-based leadership role. You will drive new business, grow key accounts and work closely with internal teams to deliver the right solution for each customer.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and developing a small commercial team
- Driving revenue through new business and key account growth
- Winning opportunities across catalogue chemicals and CDMO services
- Growing existing relationships and expanding the customer portfolio
- Reviewing KPIs, account plans and market activity to improve performance
- Overseeing technical enquiries and ensuring a timely commercial response
- Maintaining clear communication on quotations, orders and delivery timescales
- Working with clients, suppliers, production, QC and logistics to meet customer requirements
- Representing Manchester Organics at customer visits, exhibitions and industry events, including occasional UK and European travel
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 3-4 years' technical sales, account management or business development experience in the chemical sector
- Proven success winning new business and developing long-term accounts
- Strong technical and commercial understanding of chemical products and markets
- Experience leading a commercial team, or the clear capability and ambition to step up into a first management role
- Excellent written and verbal English communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- A highly organised, self-motivated approach and ability to work across a cross-functional team
- Microsoft Office proficiency and ability to undertake occasional UK and European travel
Desirable
- 1-2 years' direct experience managing a technical sales or commercial team
- Experience selling research chemicals, catalogue products, chemical trading services or CDMO solutions
- A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
- Experience using SAP
- A full UK driving licence and additional European language skills
