Commercial Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer

Commercial Property Focus | Flexible / Part-Time | Consultant, Locum & Self-Employed Options | Remote Working Considered

An established property practice is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer to take ownership of its growing commercial property workload, with a particular opportunity to support the firm's existing commercial and agricultural client base.

The firm has an established flow of commercial instructions through existing clients and recommendations. Due to current capacity constraints, the practice is having to turn away work, creating an immediate opportunity for an experienced lawyer to take on an existing caseload and help develop this area of the business.

There will be a small initial caseload available, with sufficient ongoing work to support someone working on a part-time or flexible basis.

The requirement is for an experienced, qualified lawyer who can work independently and take conduct of matters with minimal supervision.

A key aspect of the role is the opportunity to take genuine ownership of the firm's commercial and agricultural property work. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape and develop this area of the practice as the workload grows, making this an attractive opportunity for an experienced lawyer looking for flexibility, independence and the ability to have a meaningful influence on the direction of the work.

The Opportunity

The firm is deliberately flexible about how the role is structured and is open to discussing an arrangement that works for both parties.

The practice would consider:

  • Part-time permanent employment
  • Consultant arrangements
  • Permanent locum positions
  • Self-employed arrangements
  • A flexible arrangement based around the volume of work and the candidate's availability

The initial requirement is for a part-time appointment, with the potential for the role to develop into a full-time position as the commercial workload grows.

The firm is also open to considering a full-time appointment for an experienced lawyer who can bring an existing workload or client following that would support a full-time position. However, bringing work with you is not a requirement, as there is already an established flow of commercial work within the firm, with a small initial caseload available.

The Role

The successful candidate will take conduct of the firm's existing commercial property matters, working independently while having access to the wider firm's support.

The successful candidate will initially need to be reasonably self-supporting from an administrative perspective. The firm has general support arrangements available, but a dedicated secretary would not initially be assigned to the role. This can be reviewed as the workload and role develop.

The work is predominantly commercial property focused and is expected to include:

  • Freehold commercial property acquisitions and disposals
  • Leasehold transactions
  • Commercial leases, renewals and assignments
  • Landlord and tenant matters
  • Farm Business Tenancies
  • Agricultural property transactions
  • Secured lending and commercial finance transactions
  • Straightforward development and investment property matters
  • Property matters relating to small-scale developments
  • General commercial and agricultural property advice
  • Partnership and company matters where the candidate has the relevant experience
  • Advising commercial and agricultural clients
  • Managing files from instruction through to completion
  • Dealing directly with clients, agents, lenders and other professional advisers
