Drainage Repair Engineer
An established drainage repair contractor serving housing associations, local authorities, property companies, insurers and domestic and commercial clients · Drainage & groundworks
- Time to fill
- 29 days
- Package
- £40,000 (depending on experience)
- Location
- West London, covering London and the Home Counties
This was a hands-on lead role rather than a supervisory one: the engineer takes ownership of their own van and a two-man team. The client needed groundworks, pipe replacement and reinstatement, lining and patch lining, high-pressure jetting and CCTV survey skills in a single person, alongside the customer-facing judgement the client base demands.
Seventeen candidates were sourced and screened. Two came through internal interview and both were presented. One was interviewed by the client and hired, 29 days from brief. The filtering happened at our end, so the client saw only the two candidates who genuinely matched the specification.

- Time to fill
- 42 days

- Location
- The South of England — field-based across the South territory
This role sits between electrical work and data. The client needed a BS 7671 qualified electrician who could also install and commission panel mount and DIN rail power meters, configure Modbus RTU and TCP/IP, fit data loggers to gas and water flow meters, and work independently at remote sites with LV switchgear and CTs.
Thirty-three candidates were sourced and screened. Four came through internal interview, and all four were presented and interviewed by the client. One was hired, 42 days from brief. The drop from thirty-three to four is the honest measure of how specific this brief was.

- Time to fill
- 69 days

- Location

Noticing is a niche discipline. The client needed someone who had submitted permits and notices for works on the highway, knew NRSWA legislation and streetworks charging schemes, and could work Symology, Street Manager and Aurora, plus traffic management applications through to approval. That experience sits with a small population, most of it already employed in the industry.
Thirty-eight candidates were sourced and screened, eleven went to internal interview and five were presented. Two reached client interview and one was hired, 69 days from brief. Most of the effort went into separating genuine noticing experience from adjacent highways administration.

How the fee works
Every role on this page was delivered on the same basis: a fixed fee, agreed before we start, with no percentage of salary attached. The straightforward search and the difficult one cost the client the same.
That is the point of the model. A percentage fee charges you more for hiring a better-paid person and rewards us for the easy search. A fixed fee puts the risk of a long search where it belongs — with us. And if we do not fill the role, you get every penny of your fee back.
Every figure here comes from our own placement records. Clients and placed candidates are not named. Full detail on the model is on our Guaranteed Hire page.
