Transport and logistics roles, filled

Two briefs, three people hired. 23 candidates worked and 5 presented across a print manufacturer's sales office and a pharmaceutical distributor's collection routes, the longer search filled in 39 days.

The specification was narrow by design. One to two years on Sage, ideally Sage 200, covering sales order processing, despatch, sales ledger and credit control. Add export documentation, a team of three or four people, and a preference for someone inside a short commute, and the realistic pool is very small.

Two candidates matched closely enough to work at all. Both were taken through internal interview and both were presented. Both were interviewed by the client and one was hired, 34 days from brief. A two-candidate funnel here reflects how tight the specification was, not how far the search reached.

Two candidates worked, both presented. Filled in 34 days.

Both candidates worked were good enough to present. On a specification this narrow, that is the whole job.

Driver

A growing pharmaceutical distribution company · Pharmaceutical distribution

Time to fill
39 days
Package
£16,000–£18,000 per annum, based on three days per week
Location
Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and the Midlands

Collection routes ran across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and the Midlands, so a driver had to live on the round rather than travel to it. The contract is part-time and zero hours at roughly two to three days a week, and the driver is the face of the company at every customer site. Geography did much of the screening.

Twenty-one candidates were worked and fourteen taken to internal interview. Three were presented, two were interviewed and both were hired. One brief produced two placements, which is what a wide and spread-out patch needs when a single driver cannot cover it.

How the fee works

Every role on this page was delivered on the same basis: a fixed fee, agreed before we start, with no percentage of salary attached. The straightforward search and the difficult one cost the client the same.

That is the point of the model. A percentage fee charges you more for hiring a better-paid person and rewards us for the easy search. A fixed fee puts the risk of a long search where it belongs — with us. And if we do not fill the role, you get every penny of your fee back.

Every figure here comes from our own placement records. Clients and placed candidates are not named. Full detail on the model is on our Guaranteed Hire page.
