As part of a significant automation project within the pharmaceutical sector, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of the delivery of a major installation project at a client facility in Athlone.

The Role
They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the installation of conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and associated automation systems at a pharmaceutical site in Athlone.
Reporting to senior management, and working closely with the COO, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project, acting as the primary day-to-day interface between IO Systems and client-side stakeholders.
You will lead project execution from installation through commissioning and final handover, coordinating internal teams, site personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and client stakeholders to ensure delivery against programme, quality, safety, and commercial objectives.
The successful candidate will be a confident project leader who can take ownership of a complex engineering project, manage multiple stakeholders, and operate effectively within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete removal and installation of existing and proposed new conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and associated automation systems
- Take ownership of project delivery, ensuring all milestones, deadlines, and handover requirements are achieved
- Develop and maintain detailed installation programmes aligned with the principal contractor's master schedule
- Coordinate all installation activities with the construction management team to minimise conflicts with other trades
- Act as the primary point of contact for conveyor and automation installation activities between IO Systems, and client stakeholders
- Lead site coordination meetings with site technicians, subcontractors, suppliers, and the main contractor
- Manage mechanical, electrical, controls, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate internal engineering resources, site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure effective project delivery
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical site procedures, GMP requirements, health and safety regulations, and project quality standards
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and escalate issues where necessary
- Monitor project progress against milestones and provide regular reporting to senior management and stakeholders
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, change requests, and commercial impacts
- Coordinate delivery schedules, material handling, storage, and installation sequencing
- Oversee installation quality inspections and ensure all work is completed to specification
- Support equipment testing, FAT commissioning, SAT, IQ/OQ activities, and final handover documentation
