Maintenance Engineer | Chichester | Full Time | £44,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, initially 7:00 am–4:00 pm, moving to 11:00 am–8:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 7:00 am–4:00 pm on Friday
Our client is a manufacturer of high-quality bespoke plastic extrusion profiles. They supply high-volume plastic extrusions at competitive prices to a variety of customers across a wide range of trade sectors.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing and repairing manufacturing equipment, helping to minimise downtime and ensure machinery remains safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
You will work under the Senior Maintenance Engineer and report to the Operations Manager, carrying out both electrical and mechanical maintenance across the manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and repair equipment across the manufacturing facilities
- Service and repair equipment incorporating electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Check instrumentation and arrange calibration where required
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime
- Diagnose and rectify faults, including sourcing and fitting replacement parts where necessary
- Carry out scheduled overhauls and replacement of components
- Complete routine maintenance, machine refurbishment and equipment upgrades
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work
- Relocate and install equipment as required
- Assist with other reasonable duties requested by Managers or Directors
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' relevant engineering experience
- Experience across electrical and mechanical engineering
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of programmable controllers and encoders
- Knowledge of motor drive units and inverters
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and engineering principles
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise a varied workload
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach to working hours, including emergency call-outs and different shift patterns
- Good awareness and understanding of Health & Safety legislation
Desirable
- 17th or 18th Edition electrical qualification
- Experience with PAT Testing
- Safe Working at Heights training
- Good computer skills for maintaining and updating maintenance records
- Experience working with compressors, chillers and extruders
- Experience with machine refurbishment, upgrades and installation
