HVAC Engineer | Leeds | Full Time | £30,000–£38,000 Per Annum
Our client is an established independent Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) contractor based in Leeds, delivering building services across the commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and residential sectors.
Founded in 2014, they have delivered 237+ projects with 85% repeat business and have a growing HVAC division.
This is a newly created position as part of the continued expansion of the HVAC division, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to join a growing team and play an important role in its development.
The Role
They are looking for an experienced Ventilation Engineer / Ventilation Installer to join their growing HVAC division. This is a hands-on trade role involving the fitting and fabrication of ductwork systems across a wide variety of projects.
You’ll work alongside the HVAC Divisional Lead and HVAC Engineer, as well as wider teams of plumbers, electricians and heating engineers, to deliver ductwork installations to high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
The role is primarily based on local West Yorkshire projects, with occasional nationwide projects requiring travel and away work of up to 6 weeks. Normal working hours are 8 hours per day, with occasional evening work as required.
Current projects include an office block in Harrogate, a new laundry room for the English FA at St George’s Park, an apartment refurbishment in Headingley and a large development in Shipley, giving you the opportunity to work across a varied range of commercial and specialist environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install both plastic and fabricated galvanised metal ductwork systems, including extract, supply, MVHR, VRF and general ventilation ductwork
- Accurately measure, cut, join and piece together ductwork sections, bends, transformations and fittings, ensuring correct fit, alignment and sealing to specification
- Read and interpret mechanical/ductwork drawings, installation schedules and specifications
- Set out ductwork routes and coordinate with other trades to identify and avoid clashes
- Install ductwork supports, hangers and brackets in line with specification, DW144/DW172 good practice and quality standards
- Fit associated ductwork ancillaries, including dampers, grilles, diffusers, flexible connections and attenuators
- Support fitting of AHUs, fan coil units and MVHR units
- Support pressure testing, leakage testing, commissioning and air balancing activities as required
- Work closely with the HVAC Divisional Lead and HVAC Engineer to keep projects on programme
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work area and comply with health & safety regulations, RAMS and quality procedures
- Liaise confidently with site management, other trades and clients
- Complete accurate site paperwork, including timesheets, test/inspection records and snagging documentation
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider HVAC team
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a ventilation installer / HVAC engineer on commercial, industrial or residential M&E / HVAC projects
- Skilled in installing both plastic ductwork systems and traditional fabricated (sheet metal) ductwork
- Confident reading and interpreting technical/mechanical drawings and setting out installations to avoid clashes with other services
- Good working knowledge of ductwork accessories, including dampers, grilles, diffusers and flexible connections
- Competent with the hand and power tools used in ductwork installation
- Full UK driving
