Commercial Solar & Battery Storage Electrician | South Wales / Bristol / Gloucestershire | Full Time | £40,000–£50,000+ DOE
Our client is a growing business specialising in commercial and domestic renewable energy solutions, including solar PV, battery storage, EV charging and commercial electrical installations.
This is a newly created position due to business growth and offers the opportunity to develop specialist experience across the renewable-energy sector, with extensive training for candidates with a strong commercial electrical background but limited or no renewable-energy experience.
The Role
They are looking for a Commercial Solar & Battery Storage Electrician to join their expanding team.
The role involves travelling from your home location to various job sites, with projects across commercial premises, industrial sites, warehouses, offices, retail units and farms. Projects are variable in size but are typically 1–2 days, with the successful candidate usually working as part of an installation team.
The successful candidate will be involved in the installation, testing, commissioning, fault-finding and maintenance of electrical systems, solar PV, battery storage/EESS and EV charging systems.
Candidates with no previous solar or battery storage experience will be considered if they have a strong commercial electrical background and the required qualifications. Extensive training will be provided, although salary will reflect existing renewable-energy experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing and maintaining commercial electrical systems
- Installing commercial solar PV systems and associated electrical works
- Installing and commissioning commercial and domestic battery storage / EESS systems
- Carrying out electrical testing and fault finding
- Testing and commissioning renewable-energy systems
- Supporting EV charging installations
- Working with a range of solar, battery storage and EV charging systems
- Commissioning systems independently with support from manufacturers' technical support teams where required
- Completing site documentation, testing certificates and handover paperwork
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications
- Working to current electrical regulations and health & safety standards
- Working as part of an installation team
- Supporting the successful delivery of projects from installation through to completion
Requirements
Essential
- Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services or a recognised electrical apprenticeship
- AM2
- 18th Edition BS 7671
- C&G 2391-52 or equivalent inspection and testing qualification
- At least 2 years' commercial electrical experience
- Strong commercial electrical background
- Ability to carry out electrical testing and fault finding
- Ability to complete site documentation, testing certificates and handover paperwork
- Professional approach and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
- Full willingness to develop within the renewable-energy sector

- Commercial solar PV experience
- Battery storage / EESS experience

- MCS-related qualifications or experience
- Experience with Easee EV chargers
