Field Service Engineer – Laboratory & Biotech Equipment

Working Hours
Standard working hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, some flexibility in working hours may be required. Overtime is not standard and is entirely optional, at the employee’s discretion, should it arise.

Our client was established in 2009 and provides a wide range of leading scientific equipment, consumables, and instrumentation to laboratories across Ireland.
With over 15 years of specialist experience, our expertise spans biospecimen preparation, storage and safekeeping, cell and tissue culture laboratories, heating and cooling technology from basic laboratory applications through to pharmaceutical process control systems, and fermentation and bioreactor systems and controls.
The Role
They are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join a small, highly skilled technical team supporting specialist laboratory, cell growth, storage, and fermentation equipment across Ireland.
This is a varied, hands-on engineering role involving installation, servicing, calibration, and fault finding across electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
You will be based in Bray, Co. Wicklow, but will spend a significant portion of your time travelling nationwide to customer sites within biotech, pharmaceutical, and industrial laboratory environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and set up laboratory and industrial cell storage/growth
- equipment
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems
- Carry out calibration and preventative maintenance activities
- Provide technical support to customers on-site across Ireland
- Work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team
- Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation
- Ensure high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a field service or engineering role
- Third-level qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, or related engineering discipline
- Full clean Category B driving license
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability across multi-disciplinary systems
- Confident computer literacy (service reports, documentation, basic systems use)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a national travel schedule
Desirable:
- Experience in laboratory, biotech, pharmaceutical, or industrial equipment
- Calibration, validation, or GMP-regulated environment experience
- Multi-skilled engineering background (electrical + mechanical preferred)
