Job Description

POSITION: Properties Officer

SALARY: £22,000 – £26,000 PA (subject to experience)

BENEFITS: Company pension, development and training and other benefits (see below)

HOURS: 37 Hours per week, including evening and weekends where necessary

LOCATION: Croydon, CR0 1QG


Established in 1981, our client is both a charity, and not for profit organisation, who specialise in helping to reduce homelessness of young people and vulnerable adults. The charity’s mission is to enable young people to have a safe place to call home and to access opportunities to have the best chance in life. Based in South London the organisation is now seeking to expand its model of care and support, across London and further afield, in the South of England.

The charity is seeking a talented individual to join as an experienced Operational Supported Housing Manager to lead a team of Advice and Support Officers. 

This role is an exciting opportunity to actively make a real difference to the way the organisation works and the services it provides. The organisation has a highly motivated team of employees with a range of skills and experience, some from similar experiences as the young people. They know what it’s like to face family difficulties and life changing situations, and how to rebuild one’s life again.


  • You will lead and develop a team in south London to deliver high standards of support, guidance and engagement activities for young people

  • Ensure that safeguarding and child protection policy and protocol is adhered to. 

  • You will manage supported housing or supported lodgings services in order to prevent homelessness. 

  • Ensure that performance and quality targets are met, ensure service user strategies are delivered and contractual KPIs are met.


  • Applicants need to have proven experience of working in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to providing high quality supported housing services to young people and families to prevent homelessness.  

  • Experience of auditing, monitoring and reviewing the quality of the service, ensuring that commissioners, external regulatory and statutory requirements are met, while recommending and implementing improvement.

  • Work within service budgets and will contribute to annual budget setting. 

  • Must have extensive experience and a strong background in supported housing services, working with young people or other vulnerable people and/or a background in homelessness prevention.

  • Qualified or willing to work towards a level 5 qualification. 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills are essential as is extensive experience of leading, motivating and developing people and high performing teams.

  • An understanding of Health & Safety at work.

  • IT Literate, skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word etc.).

  • It is desirable to have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

  • Flexible to work evening and weekends when necessary.

  • Live within a commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK.
