Senior Estimator
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their Commercial team. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for leading the preparation of competitive, high-quality tender submissions for major construction projects across Ireland. This role requires strong commercial awareness, technical expertise, and the ability to manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for building and civil engineering projects
- Manage the full tender process from enquiry through to submission and post-tender negotiations
- Review and analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation to develop robust pricing strategies
- Coordinate input from estimating, commercial, planning, design and operations teams to produce compliant tender submissions
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants to obtain competitive quotations and technical information
- Identify commercial, technical and programme risks, while supporting value engineering opportunities
- Ensure all tender submissions meet client requirements, contractual obligations and submission deadlines
- Lead estimating review meetings and present recommendations to senior management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and the supply chain throughout the tender process
- Support continuous improvement by participating in post-tender reviews and lessons learned
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
- 7+ years' experience in a Senior Estimator or similar estimating role within a main contractor
- Proven experience preparing successful tenders for building and/or civil engineering projects
- Strong understanding of Irish construction methodologies, procurement routes and market rates
- Excellent commercial, analytical and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively under tight deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
