Semi Senior Accountant | Cheshire / Stoke-on-Trent | Full Time with Hybrid option once established | Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm| £32,000 – £38,000 DOE

Our client is a well-established independent accountancy practice operating across Cheshire and Stoke-on-Trent, supporting a varied portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients. With a collaborative and fast-paced environment, this is a business where every team member plays an important role and individual contribution is highly valued.
Due to continued growth and increasing client demand, they are now looking to appoint a Semi Senior Accountant to strengthen the team and support delivery across both offices.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move into a broader, more hands-on role with strong exposure across accounts, tax and client management, whilst working closely with senior leadership.
What will your role look like?
- Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Producing VAT returns and management accounts for a varied SME client base
- Supporting both corporate and personal tax compliance activities
- Managing multiple client assignments simultaneously and ensuring timely delivery
- Working directly with clients to gather information and provide day-to-day support
- Taking ownership of work through to completion under manager review
- Supporting delivery of subcontracted and overflow work where required
- Building strong client relationships and maintaining excellent service standards
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with deadlines
- Contributing to a busy and collaborative practice environment
- Exposure to a broad range of SME and owner-managed clients, providing varied day-to-day learning and development
- Occasional client visits may be required, though this is not a regular expectation
Are you the right person for the job?
You’ll ideally come from a UK accountancy practice background and be comfortable managing a varied workload with increasing levels of independence.
- 2–4 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice environment
- Strong accounts preparation experience from trial balance through to completion
- Experience producing VAT returns and supporting tax compliance activities
- Comfortable managing work independently with minimal supervision
- ACA / ACCA part-qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
- Experience using cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicating directly with clients
- Positive, adaptable approach and comfortable working within a small team environment
- Ability to work autonomously in a busy practice environment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced SME setting with varied responsibilities across multiple client types
- Full UK driving licence preferred due to office locations and occasional travel between sites/client visits
