Operations Assistant | Walthamstow, E10 7AS | Full Time | 10:30 am–6:30 pm, Monday to Friday (very occasional weekend cover) | £30,000 per annum

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Operations Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys responsibility, and wants to play a key role in keeping daily transport operations running smoothly.
The Role
- Support the Fleet Supervisor in the day-to-day running of transport operations
- Process and monitor bookings using scheduling systems
- Allocate drivers and communicate daily schedules via Connect Team and text
- Ensure accurate completion and updating of all operational records and logsheets
- Supervise the safe return of vehicles, drivers, and crews at the end of each shift
- Handle customer and driver enquiries via phone and email
- Support fleet management, including booking vehicle inspections and liaising with garages and suppliers
- Prepare daily shift registers, operational paperwork, and end-of-day reports
- Liaise with Dial-a-Ride to manage schedule changes, cancellations, and operational updates
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, vehicle checks, and return protocols
- Willingness to undertake driver training
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken English)
- Professional, reliable, and a strong team player
- Proactive with a flexible, “can-do” attitude
- Confident using IT systems (Microsoft Office, scheduling/booking software)
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, drivers, and service users
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience in community transport or a similar operational environment
- Knowledge of booking and scheduling systems
- Understanding of transport-related health & safety procedures
- Experience supporting service or contract-based operations
- D1 licence (desirable but not essential)
