Job Title: Electrician
Locations: You can be based on the outskirts of London, Ilford, Romford, Colchester, Maidstone, or Dartford
Coverage Area: Within your postcode area, but at times you will be required to travel to Essex, London, Kent & Hertfordshire depending on business demand
Hours: 40 hours per week (08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work 07:30–16:30 may be discussed). 30-minute unpaid break
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 basic salary
OTE: £60,000–£70,000 (including overtime and call-out)

Our client is a well-established and reputable electrical contractor based in Essex, delivering high-quality electrical, fire, and security services across Essex, Kent, and London. They work across domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors, maintaining a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and workmanship.
The Role
This is a fully mobile position working from home and travelling daily to customer sites within a practical commuting radius. While most work will be local to your home location, flexibility is required to cover Essex, London, Kent, and Hertfordshire when needed.
You will carry out a mixture of reactive maintenance, installations, rewires, and testing. The role requires someone confident working independently in a “one engineer per van” environment, maintaining high technical standards and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Reactive maintenance and fault finding
- Electrical alterations and installations
- Consumer unit replacements
- Full and partial rewires
- Installation of EV charging units
- Electrical testing, including EICRs and associated remedial works
- Accurate completion of certification and documentation (test certificates, risk assessments, etc.)
Requirements
- Proven experience in reactive/jobbing electrical work within domestic and commercial environments
- A strong background in EICR testing would be advantageous; however, training and support will be provided to obtain the 239 qualification if not already held.
- Fault diagnosis and remedial works (essential)
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 2 Electrical qualification
- 18th Edition
- Part P
Advantageous
- Level 3 Electrical qualification
- 2391 (Testing & Inspection)
- Gold JIB card (ideal, not essential)
- EICR experience
Experience:
At least 2 years’ experience independently carrying out:
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Rewires3.
- Consumer unit installations
- EICR remedial works (bonus)
Other Requirements:
- Confident working independently without supervision
- Professional and customer-focused approach (comfortable working in occupied homes)
- Organised, tidy, and presentable
- Strong problem-solving skills and confident decision-making on site
- Must be over 25 years old (insurance requirement)
- Must supply own basic hand tools (specialist tools provided)
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points)
- Willing and able to travel daily within approximately a one-hour radius
Call-Out / On-Call: Participation in an on-call rota (currently 1 week in 6, with frequency expected to decrease as the team grows), paid door-to-door at overtime rates.
