Customs Transit Administrator

Location: Templepatrick, Northern Ireland (with travel to other sites as required)
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum (DOE)

Important: Working Hours (Please Read Carefully)

This is a fixed shift role with non-standard working hours:

  • Monday–Thursday: 1:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Friday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
  • Weekend: 1 weekend in every 4 required

Due to continued expansion, they are seeking a Customs Transit Administrator to join their fast-paced and detail-focused team. The Role

As Customs Transit Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth and compliant movement of goods through customs transit processes.

Your duties will include:

  • Preparing, submitting, and managing customs transit declarations
  • Ensuring correct use of transit procedures including guarantees, seals, and reference numbers
  • Monitoring shipments to ensure timely arrival, discharge, and closure
  • Tracking delays or discrepancies and taking corrective action where required
  • Liaising with drivers, hauliers, ports, and customs authorities
  • Supporting internal teams to ensure smooth operational flow
  • Maintaining accurate records across systems such as NCTS, TSS, TRACES, and Thyme IT
  • Assisting with audits, reporting, and compliance checks
  • Supporting resolution of operational issues and escalations
  • Working in a time-sensitive, high-accuracy environment
  • Participating in ongoing training and development to build customs expertise

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) at Grade C or above
  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics, customs, or office administration
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be fully comfortable working the shift pattern outlined above on a long-term basis

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in customs transit or freight forwarding
  • Knowledge of NCTS (New Computerised Transit System)
  • Understanding of transit guarantees, seals, and closure processes
  • Familiarity with systems such as TRACES, TSS, or similar customs platforms
