Business Support Administrator | Sparkhill, Birmingham | Full Time | £27,000 – £29,000 per annum (DOE)

Our client is a UK manufacturer of high-performance coatings and specialist surface treatments, supporting the aerospace, aero engine, gas turbine, defence and advanced engineering sectors worldwide.

For over 40 years, they have developed and manufactured coatings designed to protect critical components operating in demanding environments. Their products are engineered to deliver resistance to high temperatures, corrosion, oxidation, abrasion and aggressive operating fluids, ensuring reliable performance in aerospace and industrial applications.

The Role

To provide comprehensive administrative and operational support across key business functions, including procurement, accounts, operations, and general office activities. The role ensures efficient coordination of processes, accurate record-keeping, and effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders, while supporting compliance, cost control, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support across departments including procurement, accounts and operations
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders, requisitions, and supplier communications
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, databases, and documentation while ensuring the secure handling and confidential disposal of sensitive business information in accordance with company policies
  • Scan and securely maintain purchase orders, goods received notes, and payment records, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance with company procedures
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers to obtain quotations, confirm orders, and track deliveries
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure continuity of supply
  • Assist in resolving issues relating to deliveries, quality concerns, or invoicing discrepancies
  • Produce reports, spreadsheets, and documentation to support business decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and management systems
  • Provide general office support including filing, data entry, correspondence handling, and diary coordination
  • Support departmental and cross-functional projects as required
  • Maintain effective communication and strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Additional Responsibilities

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and business needs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the department

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in an administrative or business support role
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable

  • Experience in procurement or operations support
  • Familiarity with purchasing systems, ERP systems, or databases
  • Understanding of supply chain or inventory management processes
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
